Does sterling silver tarnish?

Tarnish is a natural characteristic of sterling silver, resulting from its interaction with the environment over time. This process enhances the material’s unique personality, adding depth and character to each piece.

How can I protect my jewellery from tarnishing and ensure the enduring of its gold plating?

When wearing your pieces, avoid:

  • Direct contact with perfumes, lotions, and household chemicals.
  • Heat and moisture.
  • Swimming, bathing, or engaging in activities that may expose it to harsh elements.
  • Practice sports

Each person’s skin pH can affect the longevity of gold plating. More acidic skin may accelerate tarnishing or wear, so proper care is especially important if you notice quicker changes.

After wearing, wipe your jewellery gently with a soft, non-abrasive cloth to remove oils, sweat, and other impurities that may build up and impact its finish.

To preserve the brilliance of your Krua jewellery, we recommend storing it in our signature packaging, designed with anti-tarnish materials to protect your pieces.

Keep your jewellery in a dry, airtight container or a soft pouch when not in use to minimize exposure to air, humidity, and dust.

How to Clean Your Krua Jewellery?

Proper cleaning is essential to maintaining the brilliance of your Krua jewellery, whether it’s crafted from silver, gold vermeil or finished with gold plating. Follow these steps to gently care for all your pieces:

Light Cleaning

  • Fill a small bowl with lukewarm water and add a drop of mild soap.
  • Submerge the jewellery briefly (no soaking for gold-plated pieces).
  • Use your fingers or a soft cloth to clean the surface gently.
  • Avoid scrubbing or using abrasive materials, especially on gold-plated and gold vermeil pieces.
  • Rinse thoroughly under running water to remove soap residue. Immediately pat dry with a clean, lint-free cloth.

Deep Tarnish Removal (for Silver)

If tarnish forms on silver pieces, use a specialized silver polishing cloth to gently restore shine. Avoid chemical dips or cleaners, as these can damage the detailing.
